Church of England reports significant progress due to new funding initiative

The CofE’s strategic mission board has reported significant progress in its 2025 annual review, with £98m distributed to dioceses and £5.9m to mission partners to revitalise parish churches across England. Funding has supported ministry roles, youth work, building improvements and new worshipping communities, with plans to train around 6,000 leaders, including additional curates. Projects span urban and rural areas, aiming to grow congregations and engage younger generations. Examples include All Saints Hove, where children’s ministry has expanded significantly, and St Luke’s Blackburn, now thriving after revitalisation. Nationally, investment has helped launch 1,500 new worshipping communities and welcome 46,000 new participants into church life. Leaders say the initiatives are strengthening local ministry, fostering faith growth and enabling churches to better serve their communities in diverse and creative ways.
