A Florida church is celebrating remarkable spiritual transformation among prisoners, with 115 men professing faith in Jesus Christ and 93 being baptised during a four-day outreach at a correctional institution in Marianna. The event was led by Rick McClung, executive pastor of First Baptist Church in Panama City, Florida, whose ministry regularly visits local jails and prisons. During 2026, the outreach has recorded 752 professions of faith and 342 baptisms. McClung emphasises that evangelism must be followed by discipleship, with new believers receiving Bible study resources, prayer guidance, and ongoing Christian teaching. The ministry operates alongside the church’s Most Excellent Way programme, supporting people overcoming addiction and substance abuse. Around 40 volunteers, many themselves former participants, help provide worship, mentoring, hospitality and practical assistance. McClung has witnessed remarkable stories of redemption, including restored marriages and former gang leaders becoming Christian leaders within prisons. He says the ministry remains focused on sharing Jesus, nurturing faith and helping people discover lasting hope and freedom through Christ.
