Catherine, Princess of Wales, is making her first overseas visit since undergoing cancer treatment, travelling to Reggio Emilia in Italy to promote her work supporting early childhood development. The two-day visit is her first since 2024, when she announced that she had cancer; in January 2025 she said that she was in remission. During the trip, the Princess will learn more about the internationally respected ‘Reggio Emilia approach’ to education, which emphasises the role of parents, teachers and environment in helping children flourish. She will also receive the Primo Tricolore, the city’s highest honour, recognising her longstanding commitment to early years support through the Centre for Early Childhood, which she founded in 2021. The visit highlights both her gradual return to public duties and her continued passion for helping children and families build strong foundations for life.
