Mark Francey, pastor of Oceans Church in California, is leading a global initiative called Baptise the World, encouraging churches worldwide to hold baptisms together on Pentecost Sunday, 24 May. The movement began in 2023 with Baptize SoCal at Pirate’s Cove, a location associated with the historic Jesus Movement. That event saw more than four thousand baptisms, followed by over six thousand in Baptise California in 2024 and nearly 28,000 through Baptise America in 2025. Francey said he was inspired by what he believed was a vision from God calling him to unite Christians around the biblical command to make disciples and baptise believers. Churches from many nations are now joining the effort, which aims to demonstrate Christian unity across denominational lines. A live broadcast from the Museum of the Bible, in Washington DC, will show baptisms taking place around the world.
