An Illinois restaurant owner, who does not want to be named, says he silently cried out to God during a terrifying armed robbery at his Venezuelan restaurant in Melrose Park near Chicago. CCTV footage showed the suspect entering the restaurant several times before pulling a gun and threatening to kill the owner while customers dined nearby. The robber stole jewellery valued at about $10,000, including a treasured law school graduation ring given to the owner by his parents in Venezuela. The shaken businessman said he feared for his life throughout the incident and believed he might be shot. Despite the trauma, he expressed sadness that the suspect (who has not yet been apprehended) appeared to come from the same Venezuelan community.
